IS IT? THE SWINE FLU?

Well, I wasn't feeling very well last week and I didn't get started looking at the participants of White Wednesday until Wednesday late afternoon. I was flat down on Saturday and Sunday. I had a flu shot a few weeks ago, how could I have the flu. I haven't had the swine flu shot so at first I was a little worried. OK, maybe this was a little much, I called my children and gave them instructions as to what I wanted each of them to do at my funeral. My oldest son ask me what I wanted to have served.
Today is Monday and I have finally gotten down to my blog on the Faded Charms side bar. I don't have the strength to sit to the computer. SO I've pulled out my favorite TV show. My son just bought me season 9 of the Walton's. I am in Heaven, my pillow and quilt, an ice cold glass of Sprite and watching a Marathon of the Walton's. I should be OK.

Let me leave you with the Surgeon Generals latest symptoms of the SWINE FLU.

Fever is usually present with the flu in up to 80% of all flu cases. A temp. of 100F or higher for 3 to 4 days is associated with the flu.

A nonproductive (non-mucus producing) cough is usually present with the flu (sometimes referred to as dry cough).

Severe aches and pains are common with the flu.

Stuffy nose is not commonly present with the flu.

60% of people who have the flu experience chills.

Tiredness is moderate to severe with the flu.

Sneezing is not common with the flu.

The flu has a rapid onset within 3-6 hours. The flu hits hard and includes sudden symptoms like high fever, aches and pains.

A headache is very common with the flu present in 80% of flu cases.

Sore throat is not commonly present with the flu.

Chest discomfort is often severe with the flu.

  1. Hi Cindy,
I am sorry that you haven't been feeling good lately. I think that son of your is a keeper...bringing mom the Waltons. I don't want the sick part, but I would love to be there right now sitting on the sofa with you watching them right now.
That is great that you would post the things that we should be looking out for when this yuk strikes.
By the way girl, it wouldn't matter to me how many visiters I had, I would still miss you, if I didn't hear from you. I love it when you come by and leave your sweet words.
    Hugs,
    June

  7. So sorry to hear you've been ill. This swine flu's got me a little nervous. Can't afford to get ill...but then again who can.
I haven't seen the Walton's in years. We used to discuss the show in my 7th grade English class after every new episode. Funny how somethings you never forget! Enjoy watching them!

  8. Oh I am so~ sorry you have been down but not a better way to spend it than with old friends of both of us..........the Waltons. I introduced them to Autumn and Starr, they LOVE them and are so upset we don't have a show like that now. We also have all the seasons but as you recall the last season when the actors were doing other things, it was a little disappointing to see them gone. We are now looking for the specials that were made afterwards.
    Anyway........get better.

  9. I hope you're felling better and I'm sorry you can't participate in the WW them anymore, but I totally understand. I'm finding that I don't have as much time to dedicate to my computer and reading through blogland right now either. Thanks for letting me know and I have removed your name for my list. I wish everyone who didn't want to participate anymore would let me know so the list can be more up to date. I you ever want to join in again just let me know.

    Enjoy your week.

  12. Cindy,
I hope you are feeling much better. I used to love the Waltons when they were on. It was such a wholesome family show, you don't find much of that any longer.

  14. Oh no Cindy. I do hope you feel better soon and I do hope it's not the dreaded H1 N1. We have been dodging it left and right here...my niece was hospitalized a week ago. Needless to say we had a bit of a scare. She is doing well now. Please take care and keep us posted on how you are doing. Sending you tons of "get better soon" hugs and I will be keeping you in my prayers.

    Tons of love,
    ♥Ana
