SPECIAL APRONS - EARLY 1900'S

We had a special attraction at our Thanksgiving celebration this year. I got out my grandmother Allred's aprons. She made them sometime in the early 1900's, it was so fun, I felt like she was with us. She always had one of them on when I saw her. We served the famous cheese, onion, and mayo on Ritz, but I didn't make "old stinky" (grandma's cabbage salad). It just wasn't the same!

I'm so grateful to have a piece of grandma with me this year, some day I will give her aprons to my granddaughters.

  6. Cindy~ The *old stinky* cabbage salad...too funny. There are good family recipes and then there are the ones not so popular amongst the relatives. My sis has been bringing the same macaroni salad for over 25 years, but we all still love it.

The aprons were such a nice way to have your Grandma Allred there for Thanksgiving.

  10. Hi Cindy,
It's amazing how something so simple like an apron can hold so much love and memories. I'm also holding on to things that once belonged to my grandmothers and great-grandmothers just because they hold so much sentimental value...the best kind of value I think. What a wonderful treasure to pass down to your grandkids. Hope you and your family had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Until next time my friend.

    Hugs and Kisses,
    ♥Ana
